The above image was captured using a Nikon Cool Pix L 22 camera – considered at the time pretty solid technology. It was light and compact and the perfect companion for those quick point and shoot tasks.

Needless to say, we've come along way since then and the same picture taken with an iPhone would probably yield a less “ashy” result. We weren't alone back in those days, even the big media sites like Sole Collector and Sneaker News had “technical limitations.” Check out the vintage pics below and you'll see that we held our own in those early days – kind of. That said, the Air Jordan 5 "Fire Red" is obviously very special to Sole Protector and our overall story both as a memory and an important part of why we do what we do.

That pair of size 13 “Fire Reds” helped us to make that flight and test our product all over Washington DC back in 2015. We have also used that exact pair in multiple product demonstrations across the country. We will also be using a pair of Air Jordan “Fire Reds” to demonstrate the sauce process. But best of all, the 2020 release of the mighty Air Jordan 5 "Fire Red" gives us the perfect reason to launch an SP Select event packed to the brim with heat.
